Obshestvo Remeslennogo Zemledelcheskogo Truda / Society for Trades and Agricultural Labor founded in Russia in 1880 as a fund to establish Jewish trade and agricultural schools.
ORT trained Jews as artisans in a variety of skills (sewing, mechanics, carpentry) and opened vocational and agricultural schools and workshops around the world.
During the emigration of the Soviet Jewry in the 1970s, ORT set up English classes in Rome to help prepare them for the USA, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
