29 Jul Babinsky
Babinsky, or Bobinsky in census records, is a toponym (name derived from geographical entity.)
It originates from the name of the village Babinka near the town of Brest in Belarus. There were also villages Babino and Babintsy near Kiev in Ukraine but the former is a more probable root, considering that Avram Babinsky’s family was assigned to a town near Grodno in Belarus when the Pale of Settlement had first come into being.
Babinsky is a common Polish surname, also used, though not as commonly, as a Jewish surname.
